Our moderator was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He is the ninth born of ten children. Both his father and grandfather were Baptist preachers. Coming from such a rich heritage he understands the importance of ministry and the preaching of God's Word.

Terry was licensed to preach in 1978, ordained in 1983, and is a 1987 graduate of The Baptist College of Florida located in Graceville, Florida. He served in several church staff positions prior to entering senior pastoral leadership in 1984. Pastor Rainwater has served churches in Georgia, Florida, Illinois and Alabama. Also, he has preached revivals and led Bible studies in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, Illinois, New York and Jamaica.

He and his wife, Cookie, have five children. Terry is pastor of First Baptist Church of Shiloh.
